The Orrery
Moving celestial machinery measures the passage of unfamiliar moons.
The smallest moving bead may be someone’s whole sky.

History
The first moving model tracked a single unfamiliar moon to help gardeners choose their planting days. As new passages revealed other skies, its keepers added rings, tracks, and counterweights, eventually building an inhabited observatory around the slowly turning machinery.
Economy
The Orrery sells navigation ephemerides and makes robust mechanical models for schools and pilots. Instrument commissions support the public archive, while maintenance apprentices earn their training by servicing the smallest mechanisms before approaching the great rings.
Rainbow Road IAS
Joined in Show Year 8 · The Alignment of Small Moons. The Turning Sky Assembly joined the tour when its keepers created the first common route calendar for travelers whose home worlds counted days differently.
A fictional calendar kept by the Rainbow Road IAS. Year 1 begins with the first passage through the sandcastle on the beach in 1999; years count completed journeys inside its pocket of eternity, not elapsed Earth years. Local seasons identify each world’s first gathering. These histories belong to Leonida Larry’s imagined multiverse.

A moment on the road
“That tiny moving bead may represent someone’s sky. The Orrery asks us to look at scale more kindly.”
In this galaxy · The things we make together
Garlicia’s mechanics repair a damaged panel while grumbling through every compliment. Iridella learns the sound of a workshop that cares too much to let a poor repair leave.
Garlicia catches the gathering in a hundred curved reflections. At first every polished panel seems to insist on being the center. Then the makers begin comparing their work: a join, an improvised bracket, a surface patiently brought back to life.
Chromey turns a mirror toward the whole court. The image is untidy and full of people, exactly as a gathering should be. Iridella keeps that view. The road is becoming something they make together, one useful contribution at a time.
