Pendulum

Gears, bridges, and mechanical cities follow an unfamiliar rhythm.

When the bridge pauses, so does the conversation.

History

Pendulum’s districts originally kept time with separate machines that gradually drifted apart. Rather than forcing every clock into step, bridge builders installed broad waiting platforms and published the crossing rhythms, making a few minutes of shared patience part of daily life.

Economy

Clockwrights and linkage makers export mechanisms that work without constant electrical power. Freight operators reserve bridge intervals in advance, and their fees maintain public crossing schedules and the gears beneath the streets.

Rainbow Road IAS

Joined in Show Year 9 · The Long Swing. The Between-the-Beats Parade joined the tour when its cars crossed the city in measured groups, pausing at each platform for an impromptu neighborhood show.

A fictional calendar kept by the Rainbow Road IAS. Year 1 begins with the first passage through the sandcastle on the beach in 1999; years count completed journeys inside its pocket of eternity, not elapsed Earth years. Local seasons identify each world’s first gathering. These histories belong to Leonida Larry’s imagined multiverse.

Iridella’s arrival · Pendulum

A moment on the road

“The bridge is about to pause. We might as well pause our conversation with it.”

In this galaxy · The things we make together

Garlicia’s mechanics repair a damaged panel while grumbling through every compliment. Iridella learns the sound of a workshop that cares too much to let a poor repair leave.

Garlicia catches the gathering in a hundred curved reflections. At first every polished panel seems to insist on being the center. Then the makers begin comparing their work: a join, an improvised bracket, a surface patiently brought back to life.

Chromey turns a mirror toward the whole court. The image is untidy and full of people, exactly as a gathering should be. Iridella keeps that view. The road is becoming something they make together, one useful contribution at a time.
