Sand-built islands float above a world that has forgotten ordinary gravity.
A flowerbed may be what keeps this whole island level.

History
The first sand island lifted from its foundation during the building of a particularly ambitious balcony. Its startled builders learned to balance each addition with a garden or reservoir, and the floating neighborhoods now keep meticulous records of every new load.
Economy
Island trim crews maintain buoyancy gardens and rent lifting platforms to neighboring worlds. Fine sand carpentry, lightweight furnishings, and carefully limited guest stays pay for the water and mineral imports that the airborne settlements cannot replace themselves.
Rainbow Road IAS
Joined in Show Year 17 · The Level Island Season. The Floating Courtyard Tour welcomed the show only after its cars were weighed and distributed among several islands, creating a gentle procession across open air.
A fictional calendar kept by the Rainbow Road IAS. Year 1 begins with the first passage through the sandcastle on the beach in 1999; years count completed journeys inside its pocket of eternity, not elapsed Earth years. Local seasons identify each world’s first gathering. These histories belong to Leonida Larry’s imagined multiverse.

A moment on the road
“That floating island has a very important flowerbed. We will admire it without disturbing the balance.”
In this galaxy · The room we make
The little First Castle on the 1999 beach reveals the beginning: Lay and Larry making room for their gathered cars and the next visitor. The great show grew from that welcome.
The sand makes Iridella think of the First Castle: the little place Lay and Larry made in 1999, before there were a hundred host worlds to name. She draws its outline with one finger. Here, in the immense dunes, it fits in the palm of her hand.
The gathering grows around that small drawing. There is space beside it for a grand tourer and a tiny wagon. Nobody has to become impressive to belong. Before the wind smooths the sand, the travelers take the memory with them.
