History

Its checkered surfaces started as survey grids used to compare vehicle scale in photographs. Artists extended selected squares into ramps, benches, and sculptural landmarks, leaving the original measurements visible beneath a landscape built for imaginative pictures.

Economy

Checkerfall rents calibrated photography spaces and makes reusable measurement backdrops for designers. Sculptors and fabricators share workshop machinery, while commercial shoots subsidize open studio hours for local learners.

Rainbow Road IAS

Joined in Show Year 20 · The Clear Contrast Days. The Scale and Shape Exhibition entered the tour when cars of wildly different sizes occupied the same measured square, making their differences part of the display.

A fictional calendar kept by the Rainbow Road IAS. Year 1 begins with the first passage through the sandcastle on the beach in 1999; years count completed journeys inside its pocket of eternity, not elapsed Earth years. Local seasons identify each world’s first gathering. These histories belong to Leonida Larry’s imagined multiverse.

Iridella’s arrival · Checkerfall

A moment on the road

“One checkered square is our parking bay; another holds a whole plaza. Pick your scale and look again.”

In this galaxy · The joy we keep

Twuck takes a miniature orange track through a passage too small for the convoy. His return reminds the travelers that play can discover something serious planning missed.

Twuck disappears beneath a streamer and reappears at the head of a tiny parade. The serious route briefing dissolves into laughter. Iridella folds the map for a while; the next gateway will still be there after the celebration.

They collect no grand revelation in the plaza. They share a bright, unnecessary afternoon. Later, when the journey asks more of them, Starlite will remember this sound: little wheels, fluttering ribbons, and a gathering happy simply to have arrived.
